Adoption UK are looking for an Administrative Officer;

Adoption UK is the leading charity providing support, community, and advocacy for all those
parenting or supporting children who cannot live with their birth parents.
We connect adoptive families, provide information and signposting on a range of adoption related
issues and campaign for improvements to adoption policy and legislation at the highest
levels.
An exciting new role has arisen to provide admin assistance to the Wales team, to help them give
excellent support to adoptive families.
The role will include providing efficient administrative support, whilst also supporting the team
with organising publicity and campaigning events, scheduling meetings, ensuring records are
maintained, and working with the team to deliver a range of projects.
The right person for this role will have experience in administration support, be able to use a wide
variety of Microsoft applications, demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative, have
excellent organisational skills, and will establish good rapport with colleagues and stakeholders of
the team at all levels of seniority
This is a part time, permanent role between 28 – 30 hours per week, working from our Cardiff
office with some home working flexibility. The post is funded by The National Lottery Community
Fund.
The role attracts a salary range of £21, 758 – £23,529 (pro-rated) dependant on experience.

Media Academy Cymru and YMCA Swansea have some exciting opportunities for young people;

MAC & YMCA Swansea are delighted to be working with the Youth Endowment Fund on ‘Legacy’ – a peer research innovation project
This exciting research project will engage, inspire and motivate young people into discussions about society and the communities in which they live to make the world a better place. We are recruiting 12 peer researchers and a project co-ordinator from across Wales.
MAC encourages applications from young people looking for their first step on their career ladder and with experiences of the criminal justice system, being looked after or from any community overrepresented in the criminal justice system. 

 

Legacy Project Peer Researchers

MAC are also looking to employ a Divert Manager (Maternity Cover);

Role Outline:

The Divert Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operational management and quality assurance of MAC’s and Cardiff Youth Justice Service’s ‘Divert’ programme.

The ideal candidate will have a degree level education, management experience and a recent working knowledge of the youth justice system.

  • Salary: £40,000 per annum
  • Hours/Days: 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday (some evening/weekend working)
  • Location: Cardiff
  • Start Date: Immediate start date available
  • Term: Temporary – maternity cover until 31 December 2021 (in the first instance)

Satisfactory references and enhanced DBS required before appointment.

Renew and Reform well-being and progression plan

This week the ‘Renew and Reform: Supporting learners’ well-being and progression plan’ was launched. It was accompanied by a Written Statement from the Minister for Education and the Welsh Language Jeremy Miles, who also has Youth Work in his portfolio.

He said of the plan, that it “brings together and builds on the successful interventions and initiatives deployed over the last year, including retaining and supporting more than 1,800 full-time equivalent staff recruited under the Recruit, Recover, and Raise Standards programme.”

Children and Young People Support Worker

They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Children and Young People Support Worker within their Connected team at Adoption UK.
The role involves the development, delivery and promotion of the Children and Young People Service in the Western Bay and West Wales adoption service areas. The successful candidate will work closely with the team to ensure families are aware of and can access adoption support services.

The right person for this role will have previous experience of working with children and/or young people and will ideally be qualified to level 3 in Youth Work. You will have an understanding of the particular challenges for adopted children, and you will be able to work some evenings and weekends.
If you have a passion for making a difference and share in our vision for adoptive and kinship care families, we would like to hear from you.
This is a part time post of 16 hours per week, working from our Carmarthen office, with travel around the region. The role is on a fixed term contract until 31 March 2022 with the potential for extension subject to funding.
The role attracts a salary of £18,418.40, pro-rated to 16 hours.

Mapping and Evaluating the Voluntary Youth Work Sector for Wales

The Faculty of Life Sciences and Education at the University of South Wales is offering the opportunity for a candidate to complete a study of “Mapping and Evaluating the Voluntary Youth Work Sector for Wales”

Annual Stipend: £11.8k p.a

This is a funded MbyRes, including a generous stipend and tuition fees, with well-resourced circumstances for a successful scholarship.

Here is an exciting opportunity to conduct a research study which could lead to entirely new approaches in the voluntary youth work sector.

The selected candidate will apply their knowledge on the sector, research skills and ambition to assist in mapping and evaluating the voluntary youth work sector. This opportunity will allow the student to develop transferable knowledge and skills in this most exciting and active field of criminology/social science.

Are you ready for Youth Work Week?

Youth Work Week is an annual celebration of youth work across Wales. It’s an opportunity for young people, youth workers, and youth work organisations to reflect on the challenges and celebrate the positive outcomes of the last 12 months.

This year, we’ll be highlighting the innovation, resilience and resourcefulness that the sector has shown during an exceptionally difficult year.

Through the theme ‘Expressive’ we will aim to highlight how youth work provides opportunities for learning that encourage and enable young people to express their ideas, opinions, emotions and aspirations through a range of creative and challenging opportunities. We’ll be celebrating the benefits that young people gain from their engagement with youth work services, particularly around issues of identity, self-expression and confidence.

We would like to see lots of best practice examples of youth work from across Wales and we would like young people to take this opportunity to express their ideas and views on topics or issues that have an impact on their lives.

It’s really easy to get involved!

The week runs from 23rd-30th June and we’d like to see social media platforms flooded with your inspiring stories, using the hashtag #ThisIsYouthWork

We have created a communications pack to help you (it contains bilingual graphics/banners and sample content for social media that you can customise to suit your organisation).

Each day of the week is a chance to highlight achievements and outcomes that show the benefits that youth work creates for young people. Each day is also a chance to say thank you and recognise the huge contribution that all those working in youth work services have made to young people and communities.

Here are just a few ways you might consider getting involved:

  1. Share photographs* – remember to capture memories and share experiences, whatever you have planned during Youth Work Week! Take plenty of photos to share on your social media channels (and please don’t forget to tag us @YWWales and @cwvys)!
  2. Create a video for social media* – consider using your phone to capture and share footage of activities you are involved in during the week or ask people for their views on what #ThisIsYouthWork means to them.
  3. Provide a short case study* to illustrate the #ThisIsYouthWork campaign – whether you are a youth worker, a parent or a young person, we’d love to hear your thoughts. Get in touch with ellie@cwvys.org.uk if you would like support with developing and writing your case study.
  4. Follow us on @YWWales for news, to find out what’s on and to share your stories using #ThisIsYouthWork.

There are so many wonderful stories from youth work to celebrate – let’s make sure we share them and do our best to give young people in Wales and all those who support them the recognition they deserve.

* Please ensure you check you have the relevant permissions when sharing photos or videos online and it’s a good idea to avoid mentioning full names or including any information that could reveal the person’s identity. Top tip – if in doubt, don’t post it!

Welsh Youth Parliament Resumes

The second Welsh Youth Parliament election campaign has launched today (the 3rd of June 2021)!

Voter registration is open, and youth organisations are encouraged to apply to become official Welsh Youth Parliament partner organisations for the new term.
