VIBE Youth recently had their Wellbeing & Innovation Project evaluated externally and would love to share the report with colleagues in the sector;
I wanted to share our Wellbeing & Innovation Project evaluation independently evaluated by Mark Jones of Higher Plain Research & Education with you; https://drive.google.com/file/d/1o6Qs-m_ppA0lT7LGgSfZg5HTeVPI4MdL/view
It was funded through the Welsh Government’s Child Poverty grant, but the real story for me is what it says about youth work itself.
The evaluation tracked children and young people across five schools and colleges, alongside teachers and our own team. What came through strongly was how much young people valued relational, trust-based practice over more formal, behaviour-focused approaches, and how that’s reflected in things like the Youth Work Strategy for Wales and the Principles and Purposes framework. Teachers openly questioned whether mainstream education alone can meet the emotional needs many young people are carrying, and felt youth work approaches should be embedded more, not bolted on.
I’m happy to chat about this with anyone interested in learning more or collaborating on future projects.
Kind regards
Jacob Henry
