On the 6th of July 2017 we held our Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Urdd’s centre in Cardiff Bay.
Hot on the heels of an Executive Committee meeting that morning, things got underway at 2pm.
Over 60 guests were in attendance to hear the latest updates from the organisation, including the accounts for the year being approved as well as the voting in of a couple of new Trustees and members of the President’s Group!
We are thrilled to have such a wealth of experience informing and supporting our activities, and looking forward to another fruitful year of cooperation.
As well as hearing updates from our Chief Executive Paul Glaze, our Chair Keith Towler, Regional Coordinator Catrin James, Treasurer Marco Gil-Cervantes and Chair of our Training Committee Grant Poiner, we had a few exciting guest speakers!
Some of our members were introduced to Sophie McKeand, the Young People’s Laureate for Wales, at our 70th Birthday Celebrations at the Senedd on the 17th of June, but for those guests unable to make it, it was a real treat for them to hear Sophie reading from her latest collection of poetry, Rebel Sun.
After our imaginations were fired up with an inspirational reading from Sophie, Alun Davies Minister for Lifelong Learning and the Welsh Language joined us for a question and answer session about, among other things, the future of Youth Work in Wales and refreshing Extending Entitlement.
Thank you to all who joined us, see you all again next summer!
