Homelessness decisions – effective challenges
Part 2 Housing Wales Act 2014 has been in force for over 3 years and has transformed how local authorities provide assistance to people facing homelessness in Wales.
If a homeless applicant is not happy with the outcome or decision at any stage, there are routes to challenge this. How do you take effective action to challenge decisions? How can you get matters resolved quickly and with the least disruption for the person you are assisting? How can you challenge whilst preserving your relationship with the Local Authority?
This course will equip delegates to understand which decisions can be challenged, how and when, to enable them to achieve the best outcome for the person they are helping.
• Key decisions in the process, including whether to carry out a homelessness assessment, refusal to provide
suitable emergency accommodation and decisions to end assistance
